Clovis men finish second, women sixth at season-opening Crush Invitational
FRESNO – The Clovis Community College men's and women's cross country teams officially began the 2025 season by hosting the Crush Invitational on Saturday at Woodward Park.
It marked the first of four meets that will take place on the Crush's home course this season. The Crush and Woodward Park will also host the Central Valley Conference Championships (Oct. 29), the Northern California Regional Championships (Nov. 7), and the 3C2A State Championships (Nov. 22) later this year.
On Saturday, the Crush men totaled 89 points to finish in second place overall, and were first among two-year colleges, at the season-opening meet. Ivan Barranco led Clovis with his seventh-place individual showing. He cleared the 4-mile Woodward Park course with a time of 21:09.3.
He was followed in the top-20 by David Bosch in 13th place at 21:21.3 and Dylan Devine with his time of 21:28.4. Also scoring for the Crush were Christopher Barranco in 26th place (21:42.0) and Max Jauregui in 27th (21:42.8).

Fresno Pacific University won the men's team title with a score of 47 points. FPU's Rodney Chemalmal was first with a time of 20:42.9.
In women's action, Clovis totaled 199 points to finish in sixth place overall and fifth among two-year programs at the Crush Invitational. Nieves Alvarez led the Crush with her 21st-place showing. She cleared the 5K Woodward Park course with her time of 20:00.1.
Sam Martinez was next for the Crush in 30th place with a time of 20:33.2, Amen Grewal in 56th place at 21:30.3, and Liliana Cuevas in 60th with her time of 21:42.5. Also scoring points for Clovis were Zoe Crumpton in 76th (22:17.3) and Arely Ochoa Rosales in 84th (22:32.3).

Fresno Pacific University took the women's team title with a score of 25 points. FPU's Mattie Whipple was the individual winner with a time of 18:34.2. Former Crush standout Julia Martinez, now a member of Fresno Pacific, finished in seventh place.
