Coach CJ Albertson was born and raised in Fresno and attended Buchanan High School.  During his time as a Buchanan Bear, he established himself as one of the best runners in the Central Valley and State of California.  He was a part of seven team Valley Championships (4 in Track, 3 in Cross Country), and was a Central Section Individual Champion in both Cross Country and Track as well.  The 2-time "Fresno Bee Runner of the Year" ran to 3 Top-10 finishes at State and still holds the All-Time State Junior-class record at Woodward Park with his time of 14:51.  He capped off his Senior Year by winning the B'nai B'rith award before heading to Arizona State University (ASU).

While in college, Coach Albertson continued his running and academic success.  He was All-West Region in Cross Country and placed 3rd in the Pac-12 in the Steeplechase.  He obtained his undergraduate degree in exercise and wellness and displayed his knowledge by becoming one of only two students in his graduating class of hundreds to achieve a perfect 4.0 GPA.  He then was able to become the ASU school record holder in the Indoor 5000m, crack the Top-10 all-time school record lists at ASU in four different events, and qualify for the NCAA Track and Field National Championships, all while obtaining his master's degree in physical education and teaching credential.  This led to him being an academic all-american and named the Pac-12 Track and Field Student Athlete of the Year.

After coaching at West Ranch High School in Santa Clarita, Coach Albertson is now excited to be back in his hometown as the inaugural coach for the Clovis Crush Cross Country team!
